EIEfrosyni Iosiphidis

Efrosyni started dancing ballet at the age of 7 at the Rhode Island Conservatory of Music, continued studying dance at Carolyn Dutra’s Dance School, and later while attending the University of Rhode Island with Herci Marsden. After a hiatus from dance to pursue other athletic interests, she discovered ballroom and Latin dancing in 1998. With her dance partners, she has won numerous awards and titles for competitive dancing in International Latin, International Standard, American Smooth and American Rhythm categories, in the United States and internationally. And most notably, Efrosyni, with her partner Luca Daniel, represented the United States at the 2008 World S1 Latin Championships in Barcelona, Spain.

Actively supporting amateur dancing in Rhode Island, Efrosyni has held positions in the Rhode Island Chapter of USA Dance, Inc. as Newsletter Editor, Election Committee Chair, and Membership Chair, and Vice President, and nationally as Director of Administrative Support of USA Dance, Inc. Efrosyni also established the Johnson & Wales University Ballroom & Latin Dance Team in 1999 and owns Rhode Island DanceSport. She is a certified Scrutineer with NDCA, and a member of USA Dance.

She is very happy to being teaching again and enjoys sharing her years of knowledge and experience with her students. From her own experiences, she learned that students need to keep strong bodies and flexible cores and uses teaching methods to train developing dancers in the full flexibility of execution necessary for musical interpretation. Admittedly, Efrosyni’s proudest accomplishment is being able to see her students take pride in their achievements as they grow as dancers and enjoy her classes.
